Prior to taking on his recent role as CEO of Telligent, Patrick Brandt founded Skywire Software in 2000. Under his leadership, Skywire experienced tremendous growth, both organically and through 11 acquisitions, including the leveraged buyout of Docucorp (NASDAQ: DOCC) in 2007. By 2008, the market-leading vertical software company with a focus on insurance employed over 600 employees and served more than 2,400 customers in 45 countries. In July 2008, Skywire’s enterprise software business was purchased by Oracle (NASDAQ: ORCL), the world's largest enterprise software company, and its business process outsourcing operation was purchased by Kubra Data Transfer, a private equity-backed BPO roll-up. Together, these transactions provided a 48% annual rate of return to Skywire’s investors. Brandt currently serves as chairman of Skywire spin-out iWave Software, a leading provider of IT integration software.
Under Brandt’s leadership, Skywire earned more than 70 awards in recognition of its high growth, commitment to employees and the community, leadership in industry standards, and innovation in technology. Brandt also has earned several accolades for his business acumen, leadership, and community service, including the Ernst & Young 2008 Southwest Area Entrepreneur of the Year Awardâ, the 2008 Tech Titans Corporate CEO award, the 2006 Ellis Award from the Entrepreneur Foundation of North Texas, and the 2004 Tech Titans Emerging CEO award.
An active community volunteer, Brandt serves on the boards of several nonprofit organizations focused on promoting education and entrepreneurship among at-risk youth and encouraging philanthropy to emerging and established companies. Brandt is a founding director of the National Foundation of Teaching Entrepreneurship Greater Dallas Chapter and serves on the boards of the Education is Freedom Foundation and Entrepreneurs Foundation of North Texas.
Prior to founding Skywire, Brandt was engaged in a variety of entrepreneurial endeavors, including Cyberpix, which he co-founded, built into a successful company, and subsequently sold. Other experience includes two years at PaineWebber as an Investment Advisor and The Avion Group as Director of Marketing.
Brandt earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and finance from Southern Methodist University and participated in the school’s MBA program.
